This is a little young male brought into us last Friday from a local vet. He weighed 232g when he came in and is a young juvenile and not a skinny adult. He was found walking down a road by a member of the public. It is very unusual to have juveniles at this time of year but not unheard of especially this year. He now weighs 299g and is loving his kitten biscuits and heatpad. We have called him Grove.

Sorry there have not been many updates lately but we are really busy with the hoggies, work and now the laptop isn't working at the moment and this old computer is so slow it takes ages to do anything.
3 hoggies have gone for release with another 4 going in the next couple of days.
Quite a few of the hoggies are awake now so starting to sort them out for release once they have been in outside runs for a while to get used to being back in the big wide world but we still have about 15 or so that are hibernating!
We have a few new ones who are sick or injured but doing ok.
Will try to do some more updates in the next week as have a long weekend from work next weekend so will have some time(I hope!!)

Now we have two foxes, three hedgehogs and the local cat population at the feeding station! They are not bothered by each other!!! The foxes feeding station is high the hedgehogs run around the bottom eating bits of food as it falls!

The next batch of hoggies will be ready to go home in about 7-10 days time. This is the best part for us as it means we have achieved what we set out to do. I will be contacting the finders of the next batch of hogs in the next few days to arrange for you to collect them. On the down side we still have 4 in hutches outside that are asleep!!!!! Come on wake up it's time to leave......

This is one of a litter of 4 hoglets we are hand feeding here at the moment. They came in on Saturday after their nest was disturbed by someone clearing a garden and their mum ran off. Please be very careful when gardening and check the area before you start to dig or remove compost heaps/sheds and undergrowth.

Would like to say a very big thank you to Kate, Ted, Alex and Rhiannon for bringing little Abe to us and for their kind donations. He is doing very well and despite being very huffy is growing up fast and is almost weaned now.

We would like to say a big thank you to the children and staff of year 3 at Newtown primary school in Gosport. We did a talk about hedgehogs to them on Thursday and they kindly collected some food for the hoggies. We had a lovely time and you had all done your homework about hoggies which was wonderful.

PLEASE, PLEASE,PLEASE can we ask everyone to spread the word and get people to put out shallow dishes of water around their gardens. So much wildlife is struggling in this weather and a simple bowl of water can make the difference between life and death for lots of animals & birds including hedgehogs. Shallow dishes placed around the edge of a garden & under bushes/shrubs will be a life saver. They need to be shallow so the little hoglets can get in them to drink as well and please keep them topped up.

We at present have 14 adults and 18 hoglets in our care. All are doing well and either putting on weight or responding to treatment. We have some that are ready for release but until we have had some rain we will not release them as there is no natural food or water source around and it would be detrimental to the hedgehogs health and survival chances to do this. Lets hope we get some rain soon and these hoggies can go back to the wild and start living their lives where they belong.

Thank you to Kate, Ted, Alex & Rhiannon for rescuing Abe when he was a baby and for taking him and Mable for release. Also thank you for the donations when you originally brought Abe to us.

Hi Everyone, quick update. We have about 40 hedgehogs here at the moment and that is about our maximum at the present time with baby as well. We are hopefully getting some out to foster this weekend so that should free up some space!!!! If anyone who has fostered for us before would like to do it again this year please can you contact us and we will sort out getting a hoggie(or hoggies) to you.
